Serves - 4
Prep time - 15mins
Cooking time - 25mins
Ingredients
Oil - 4 tbsp
Black cardamom - 1no
Black pepper - 10 no
Cloves - 4nos
Cumin - 1 tsp
Garlic chopped - ¾ tbsp
Ginger chopped - ¾ tbsp
Onion chopped - 1 cup
Turmeric - ½ tsp
Cumin powder - 1 tsp
Chilli powder - 1 tsp
Coriander powder - 2 tbsp
Water - a dash
Tomato chopped - 2 cups
Salt - to taste
Water - 2 cups
Dried methi leaves powder - a pinch
For peas
Butter - 2 tbsp
Green peas - 1 cup
Salt - to taste
Green chilli - 1no
For paneer
Oil - 1 tbsp
Paneer cubes - 1½ cups
Method
Heat oil in a pan and add black cardamom, pepper, cloves and cumin. Stir and add chopped garlic,
ginger and cook till garlic starts to brown. At this stage add onions and brown them. Add chilli powder, turmeric and coriander powder, stir and quickly add a dash of water.
Cook till the water reduces and then add tomatoes followed by salt. Keep cooking for 10 mins more.add 2 cups water and boil again. Remove the black cardamom, our off the heat and let it cool a bit.
Add it to a grinder and make it into a puree. In a pan melt butter and add green peas and sauté them with a pinch of salt and chopped green chilli.
Cook for 2 mins and then add the puree & a dash of water and let it boil. In a separate pan add oil and add paneer and cook till it gets browned. Now add this paneer to the curry. You can sprinkle some dried methi leaves powder. Check seasoning and serve hot.
