Kada Prasad or Attae ka Halwa is a rich dessert prepared in Desi Ghee (clarified butter) and offered to all who visit & pray in a Gurudwara. It is made of whole wheat flour and the ratio is 1:1:1:2 :: Ghee:Atta:Sugar:Water.

Ingredients

  • Ghee (clarified butter) - 1 cup
  • Sugar - 1 cup
  • Atta (whole wheat flour) - 1 cup
  • Water - 2 cups

Method

  1. Mix water & sugar and bring to a boil and remove. The idea is to just dissolve the sugar and not reduce it. In a pan heat the ghee and add atta.
  2. Cook on a slow flame till the color gradually changes into a golden brown. At this stage add the syrup and on slow flame cook till it absorbs all the water. Cook for some more time till the ghee ooze out of the sides of the halwa. Serve hot.
