  • Pomegranate -1/2 cup
  • Roasted cumin – 2 tsp
  • Apple – 1 no

Method

  1. Boil the sweet potato and allow to cool. Peel and dice the sweet potato and place in a clean bowl.
  2. Dice the apples (skin on), dice the guavas, split the goose berries and slice the bananas. Clean the orange segments of any fiber and place all the fruits with the sweet potato in-cluding the pomegranate.
  3. Separately in a clean bowl pour the orange juice, add the chaat masala, roasted cumin and lemon juice. (Use lemon juice only if you need extra pungency or if the orange juice if not acidic enough).
  4. Pour in oil little by little and keep whisking it. Now pour this dressing over the fruits. Let the fruits sit in the extra orange juice for a minute or two. Serve immediately.

Notes

This fruit chaat uses local fruits available in abundance in winters. Fruits at this time of the season are cheap and best on quality. My version of this dish is light, low on salt, no chilies and can be enjoyed any time of the day. oil being neutral-tasting oil does not interfere in the citrus burst of the oranges.
