Ingredients

  • For the batter:- Maida -1 cup
  • Sugar – 2 tsp
  • For the filling:- Boiled channa dal -3/4 cup
  • Cardamom powder – 1 tsp
  • Sooji -1/4 cup
  • Milk – 3/4 cup
  • Jaggery – 1/2 cup
  • oil -2 1/2 tbl spn

Method

  • Mix all the ingredients for the batter and make a smooth coating consistency batter. Let it rest for 10 minutes.
  • In the meantime melt jaggery in a pan and add the channa dal and the cardamom powder. Mix well and add 2 tsp of oil. Keep aside.
  • Now heat a non stick pan and grease it with oil. Pour the batter and spread it thick like a pancake. Turn the heat low and now add a little bit of the filling in the centre and spread it around.
  • Now fold the pancake from opposite sides or else you can fold it in a half moon shape.
  • Cook till the pancake it cooked. Remove and serve warm.

Notes

This is a traditional Bengali dessert with a filling of coconut and jaggery, but in this recipe I have replaced the coconut with boiled channa dal and it turns out to be an excellent dessert.
